Community Assistance
For You

Our Chaplain services are here to help, as well as our Open Door financial assistance program

Invest in your Spirit, Mind, and Body

Our Christian Principles are defined as love, respect, honesty, responsibility, and service. It is these principles that set us apart in all that we do. More than a fitness facility or a place for children to play, our mission is to engage the entire person—spirit, mind, and body—to lead them to become their best.

Throughout our programs, intentional dialogue around these Christian principles equips staff, volunteers, and members to live out all we do.

Chaplaincy

Our Association Chaplain and VP of Community Development Roger Button, plays a pivotal role in shaping the programs and initiatives that take place within our YMCA Association. Tasked with ensuring that all programming aligns with the core mission of the YMCA, Roger’s work goes beyond the physical and recreational aspects of our offerings. He strives to ensure that every program, whether it’s athletic, educational, or community-driven, embodies the values that the YMCA holds dear—values such as nurturing the spirit, mind, and body. His leadership ensures that the YMCA is not just a place for physical activity, but a holistic environment where individuals are encouraged to grow in all aspects of their lives.

In addition to these essential services, Roger is actively working to train a group of dedicated volunteer chaplains, equipping them with the tools and skills necessary to serve the community. The volunteer chaplains are being trained in a comprehensive program that includes not only spiritual and theological knowledge but also practical skills such as active listening, crisis management, and compassionate caregiving. Part of this training includes a worldview and identity training, equipping them to walk through life with all. This training ensures that the network of support continues to grow, empowering volunteers to provide meaningful care and service to individuals in need. The goal is to create a community of compassionate individuals who are prepared to support others during difficult times, fostering a sense of unity and resilience throughout the entire community.

At the Y it’s not enough to simply teach a child how to swim or engage in sports; the focus is on instilling a deeper sense of purpose and personal development. We believe that each child should also learn essential life values such as love, respect, honesty, responsibility, and service. By embedding these values into every aspect of our programming, we help to develop young minds in a way that nurtures their emotional and social growth as well. This approach empowers children to not only excel in their athletic pursuits but also to become kind, compassionate, and responsible individuals who can make a positive impact on the world around them.

Our YMCA Chaplains ensure that the programs we offer foster an environment where children and adults alike can reach their full potential. Whether it’s through sports, education, or volunteerism, the ultimate goal is to create individuals who are not only physically strong but also spiritually and emotionally grounded, capable of contributing positively to their communities.

Our chaplains provide many programs designed to support individuals in various aspects of their lives, including a wide variety of counseling options tailored to meet the diverse needs of the community. These counseling services range from spiritual guidance, emotional support, and grief counseling, to crisis intervention and pastoral care. Our Chaplains are dedicated to fostering a compassionate and welcoming environment where individuals can find healing, understanding, and a sense of peace. Whether it's one-on-one counseling, group sessions, or specialized programs for specific life challenges, these services aim to promote holistic well-being—spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
