No experience required. This class offers a basic introduction to forward rolls, cartwheels, handstands and more. Fee: Facility Members $60, Program Participants $90 Age: 5 – 7 years Schedule: Wednesday 4:15 – 5:15 PM, Age: 7 and older Schedule: Wednesday 5:15 – 6:15 PM

Fun ClubBack to Top ↑

Free program for kids while parents work out. Activities include group games, rock wall, sports, swimming and more. Monthly schedules are available in the lobby and online. Parents must remain in the building. For reservations, please call 503.862.4029. Fun Club allows a maximum of 15 children. Drop-ins welcome if space is available. Age: 5 – 10 years Fee: Free to Facility Members Schedule: Monday – Friday 4:00- 7:00 PM

Child WatchBack to Top ↑

Free to members ages 6 weeks to 8 years. Open Mon – Friday 8AM – 1PM, 4PM – 8PM; Saturdays 8AM – 2PM. Children are allowed up to two hours per day and parents must remain in the building. Call 503-862-4029 to make reservations.

Junior SportsBack to Top ↑

This is an introductory class that focuses on fun and the basics of different sports. Classes meet once a week. Games, skills and confidence are the goals of the program. Age: 3 – 4 years Fee: Facility Members $45, Program Participants $60 Schedule: See below and choose class, time and day

Kempo Karate focuses on teaching skills that are the foundation of most martial arts. Skills are taught with methods suitable for children and adults. Class provides an atmosphere that teaches respect and courtesy in a fun and safe environment. Classes are taught by Mr. Mark Montoya, a 3rd degree Black Belt. Mr. Montoya has been teaching at the Sherwood YMCA for over ten years.
Age: 6 and older
Fee: Facility Members $40, Program Participants $65
Schedule: 6 – 14 years: Tuesday 5:00 – 6:00 PM; Intermediate and ages 9 - 14: Tuesdays, 6 - 7:30 PM; 14+: Tuesdays, 7:30 – 8:30 PM

Home School PE; Offered September – June OnlyBack to Top ↑

A fun and relaxed atmosphere for home-schoolers to increase athletic skills and social interaction with other children their age. Class focuses upon different sports, skills and group games. Age: 5 – 12 years Fee: Facility Members $70 1st child, each additional child $50; Program Participants $85 1st child, each additional child $65 Schedule: Tuesday & Thursday 1:00 – 2:30 PM

Climbers will learn techniques, knots, footwork, equipment safety, commands and much more! Older climbers will also learn belay skills. Climbers must wear athletic shoes or climbing shoes. All other equipment is provided. Age: 5 – 9 years Fee: Facility Members $60, Program Participants $90 Schedule Schedule: Wednesday 4:00 – 5:00 PM

Come challenge yourself during Open Climb. Open to any facility member 5 years and older. Climbers must wear athletic shoes or climbing shoes. All other equipment is provided. Schedule: Monday & Wednesday 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Saturday 5:00 – 6:30 PM

Babysitter’s TrainingBack to Top ↑

Learn the fundamentals of babysitting and become certified through the American Red Cross! During the course students will learn the basics of babysitting from leadership skills to child development, from decision making to basic first aid.

Lego Engineering – Advanced Simple MachinesBack to Top ↑

This class will introduce elementary students to key simple machines concepts while building teamwork and communication skills. They will discover basic physical science concepts such as gears, pulleys, levers, and wheels and axles through observation, reasoning, prediction, and critical thinking. Age: 7+ Fee: $60 Facility Member, $90 Program Participant Schedule: Thursdays 4-5PM

Youth Running ClubBack to Top ↑

Our Youth Running Club will not only teach stretching, pacing and safe running techniques, but will also encourage relationships with other young runners, enabling them to support one another. Participants will also get access to a running log that will help them track their miles as they train. The Youth Running club will meet at the YMCA for warm-ups and learn about healthy living and will then spend the remaining time running on established paths throughout town or indoors depending on the weather.

Safe at HomeBack to Top ↑

During this course 3rd – 5th graders will learn the basics of home alone safety. We will review general safety practices such as stranger danger and getting along with siblings. Families will be given resources to discuss specific rules for their home such as a fire escape plan and having friends over. Parents, please plan on attending the last 30 minutes of the course.

Let your child get their creative juices flowing with this fun, new class focused on creative play in both a classroom and pool setting. Kids will spend 40 minutes of class time engaging in creative play such as Lego’s, art, stories and more and then spend 30 minutes in the pool. Children must be potty-trained and wear swim suits under clothes to class. Age: 3-5 yrs Fee: Facility Members $60, Program Participants $90 Schedule: Tuesday 10:00 – 11:15 am

In this workshop course, young writers will experiment with free verse and metrical poetry, short stories, and personal narratives. Family Gym allows parents and kids to interact and play in a safe, fun environment. No registration is necessary, so drop in with your kids and have a great time! Parents must remain with children. Age: 6 months – 5 yrs Fee: Free for Facility Members Schedule: Monday 10:15 – 11AM

This fun parent-child class gives you and your tot a chance to bond while participating in 20 minutes of creative play in a classroom setting with 20 minutes of pool time focusing on basic skills, songs and games. Come explore, interact and play in a fun and safe environment, while helping your child adjust to a classroom setting in our Parent-Child Toddler Time. Your child will participate in movement and early-literacy through songs, books and more! We will focus on listening, participation and cooperation. Enjoy an active, safe, and inclusive environment for kids to explore their natural flexibility, develop more strength, and counter the stress of their daily lives. There will be Mindful Movement Games, breath work, and visualization. Schedule: Mondays 3:45-4:45 Age: 7-14yrs.
