Early Childhood Development
The YMCA provides quality, affordable early childhood development within a safe learning child care environment at our 16 Child Development Centers. Our child development centers serve families with children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Children thrive in a caring, nurturing and learning YMCA atmosphere.
Throughout the region, parents entrust their infants, toddlers and preschoolers into our care during the critical stages of early development. Preparing your children to enter school with the necessary social, emotional and cognitive skills is one of our top priorities.
At the YMCA infants and toddlers develop trust and security and preschoolers experience early literacy and learn about their world.
At the YMCA we use an innovative approach to learning called Creative Curriculum. This approach informs the nurturing, learning and educational environment that our participating children experience. For more information about this curriculum in Early Childhood development, visit Infants, Wobblers, Toddlers and Preschoolers.
Additional Child Care Programs
Most of our child development centers also have before and after School Enrichment Programs. Children who participate in our enrichment programs make friends, learn new skills and do their homework in a supportive environment. In addition, YMCA Winter, Spring and Summer day camps are offered at some of our child care centers and school sites and provide adventures that inspire and engage campers ages 5 through 12.
Healthy Lifestyles for Kids
At the YMCA we focus on building healthy lifestyles for children. When children make good choices they are more likely to make Healthy Choices as adults. Learn more about the USDA Food Program guidelines.
