All-Star Game and Skills Challenge 2017
Join us in May 2017 for the All Star Game and Skills Challenge. The proceeds from this event will go to our Annual Support Campaign which funds our financial assistance program. Come and help us support keeping the Y available to people who need us the most which is an important part of building community.

3 Point Contest

  • Preregistration is required on our website or in person at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA Welcome Center. There will not be any registration at the event. Registration closes Thursday, May 18th at 11:59 PM
  • Contest is open to anyone currently in grades 3 – 8.
  • Participants will compete in two divisions; 3rd, 4th and 5th grade combined and 6th, 7th and 8th grade combined
  • All participants must be present at 5:30 PM for the start of competitions NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Participants will shoot 5 basketballs at 5 different stations around the high school 3 point line.
  • The first 4 balls shot at each station which go through the will receive 1 point each, if the fifth ball or “Money Ball” goes through the hoop it will receive 2 points.
  • Participants will have 1 minute to complete the competition.
  • There will be 4 rounds which include the final round. Winners will be selected from the top scorers from each round.
    • Round 1: First 40 participants to register.
    • Round 2: Top 20 players from round 1.
    • Round 3: Top 10 Players from round 2.
    • Final Round: Top 2 Players from round 3.
    • Champion: Top player from final round.
  • Tie breakers in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round will be decided by a “sudden death” free throw shootout. The first participants to make a free throw are moved to the next round until the appropriate amount of spots are filled. Order of shooters in a sudden death will be determined by the order which participants compete within a round.
  • If a tie occurs in the final each player will take one shot from each of the five spots on the floor. The player with the most makes will be determined the winner. This process will repeat in the event of another tie until one of the participants makes more shots than the other.

Free Throw Contest

  • Contest is open to anyone currently in grades 3 – 8.
  • Participants will compete in two divisions; 3rd, 4th and 5th grade combined and 6th, 7th and 8th grade combined
  • All participants must be present at 5:30 PM for the start of competition NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Participants will shoot as many free throws as they can in one minute.
  • Participants will receive one point for every free throw made.
  • There will be 5 rounds which include the final round. Winners will be selected from the top scorers from each round.
    • Round 1: First 40 participants to register.
    • Round 2: Top 20 players from round 1.
    • Round 3: Top 10 Players from round 2.
    • Final Round: Top 2 Players from round 3.

  • All participants must be present at 5:30 PM for the start of competition NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Participants will go through a basketball obstacle course which will include shooting dribbling and passing skills.
  • Participants will receive one point for every free throw made.
  • The will be 4 rounds which include the final round. Winners will be selected from the top finishers in each round.
    • Round 1: First 40 participants to register.
    • Round 2: Top 20 players from round 1.
    • Round 3: Top 10 Players from round 2.
    • Final Round: Top 2 Players from round 3.
    • Champion: Top player from final round.
