Beyond the Board, in collaboration with the YMCA of Sherwood, Oregon, presents the "Teach Your Dad to Skate" event this Father's Day. Aimed at strengthening bonds through shared activity, this event invites kids and their dads to step into each other's shoes - first as learners, then as teachers of skateboarding. With expert guidance from our expert team of professional athletes and facilitators, we're setting the stage for an unforgettable day of learning, laughter, and skateboarding. Join us to celebrate fatherhood, friendship, and the thrill of riding together.

Where: YMCA, Sherwood, Oregon

Event Theme:

"Teach Your Dad to Skate" - A unique and engaging event fostering fun and bonding between dads and their kids through the joy of skateboarding.

Event Schedule:

Workshop Times: 10:00 AM & 11:30 AM (60 minutes each). An additional workshop may be added based on demand.

Participant Limit: Each workshop is exclusive to 10 kids and their dads (10 pairs per session).

Workshop Breakdown:

Gear Up (10 mins): Participants will be equipped with skateboards and safety gear to ensure a safe learning environment.

Warm-Up (5 mins): A brief and engaging warm-up session led by Chloe Kourga, a Nike-sponsored Yoga instructor, incorporating simple movement and mindfulness techniques to prepare both body and mind.

Teaching Kids (20 mins): Kids will learn the basics of skateboarding, with dads providing stability and support as needed.

Kids Teach Dads (15 mins): In a delightful role reversal, kids will take the lead in teaching their dads how to skate, fostering mutual learning and encouragement.

Game Time (10 mins): The workshop will conclude with fun games designed to unite dads and their kids through playful competition and teamwork.

Special Features:

Free Skate & Bonding Time: The interlude between workshops offers an open invitation for dads and kids to enjoy free skateboarding, fostering community and shared experiences.

Awards & Prizes: The event will culminate in a celebration of progress and partnership, with awards and prizes awarded to the most helpful and improved riders, highlighting the spirit of learning and collaboration.
