Pee Wee Basketball League FAQs
What if my child doesn't live in the Beaverton School District?
It's okay. All children are welcome to play in the Westside YMCA Leagues at no additional cost.
Where are the practices and games played?
All practices and games will be played on Saturdays at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA (9685 SW Harvest Ct. Beaverton, OR 97005). The Pee Wee League does not have any weekday/weeknight commitment.
When are practices?
All teams will have two one-hour practices before the games start on October 22. The practices will be on Saturday, October 13 and Saturday, October 20. Both practices will be held on one of the six courts at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA. Practice information will be distributed by the coaches in early October.
Will the teams still practice once the games start?
Yes. Once the games start on October 27, teams will have a short practice followed by a game totaling one hour. For example, if a team is scheduled to play at 11:00 AM, the team will practice from 11:00 AM – 11:20 AM (they'll share the court with another team) and then the two teams will play the game from 11:20 AM – 12:00 Noon.
How long are the sessions?
Saturday sessions consist of one hour total: a short 20 minute practice followed by a 40 minute game. In the spirit of skill development and learning the game, score will not be kept.
How high are the basketball hoops / what size ball do they use?
3 – 4 year-olds play on 6 foot hoops and use a # 3 mini ball
Kindy, 1st graders, 2nd graders will play on 8 foot hoops and use a junior ball (size 27.5)
3rd graders will play on 10 foot hoops and use a regulation women's basketball (size 28.5)
