By Bob Reichen, Vice President, Mission Advancement and Chaplain

A couple of weeks ago we hosted a Leadership Academy at our YMCA in Vancouver. This event brought together key leaders from various branches of our Association. We began this two day event with a focus on our mission with an emphasis on the last two words of our mission statement – “for all.”

Congratulations to Andra – February Employee of the Month at our Beaverton Hoop YMCA. Andra is one of our awesome personal trainers. She leads hard core boot camp groups during our fitness challenges. She works one-on-one with members in their free orientation sessions and conducts many personal training sessions. Not to mention all the behind-the-scenes work she does on the Healthy Living Floor from cleaning to Activtrax training.

I pray the day is finding you well.

My friend, Chuck, and I take an annual ride on our motorcycles. We spend the better part of two weeks riding around the country seeing the sites. One day we rode from Mountain Home to Filmore, Utah.

Do you know what is in Filmore? Not much.

As I rode along on my bike I started thinking about Tinker.

Why I Work at the Y

Why I Work at the Y

Read how working at the Y isn't just a job for Karen:

I was a grad student in the early 2000’s that wanted to stay healthy and exercise but could barely afford tuition, rent and gas. The Mission Viejo YMCA in Southern California gave me financial assistance on top of the student rates so I could have a place to work-out while I was in school. Funny … since I usually had my late mornings free, I typically ended up taking the silver sneakers group classes when I wanted to do a class! Lots of fun.
