The Y Blog
Here at the Y, service is at the heart of everything we do. Our staff and volunteers do their best to model that spirit of service, both in and outside the Y, and we appreciate that. That’s why we’d like to take the time to recognize Corinn deWaard.
Corinn has recently been honored with the Kenyon T. Bement Award by the Rotary Club of Portland. This award is presented to a member of the Rotary Club whose contributions to the club and to the community exemplify an exceptional spirit of the Rotary motto: Service Above Self.
We believe in helping your kids stay active and lead healthy, happy lives. That's why when it comes to helping them get up, get out and get moving this summer, no one has more options than the Y. From sports and enrichment camps to week-long resident camps we've got your summer covered.
At our sports and enrichment camps you'll find everything from traditional sports like basketball and soccer to Lego® engineering and hip-hop dancing. Kids of all skill levels will find something here to keep their focus on fun.
Healthy Kids Day
Saturday, April 28
The Y is celebrating Healthy Kids Day with a free community event that will help families find fun through active play and educational opportunities to improve health and well-being. As part of the Y's commitment to strengthening community by addressing critical gaps in health and education, Healthy Kids Day will encourage kids and parents to commit to keeping the body and mind active now and throughout the summer. Join us at the following locations:
At the YMCA, our doors are open to everyone … regardless of ability to pay. Through scholarships and reduced fees, we can offer a wide variety of programs and services to kids and families in our community. Every year through our Strong Communities Campaign, supporters like you help us to do that.
On Saturday, February 4, we held our annual Campaign Kickoff event at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA. This event celebrates our many volunteers, board members and volunteer campaigners, and gets everyone excited about our Strong Communities Campaign.
