This is Your Y

A couple of weeks ago we hosted a Christian Leadership Conference at Camp Collins. The conference is designed to provide inspiration and instruction around the Christian emphasis in our lives and work. With over 100 of our staff and volunteers, we experienced worship, teaching, seminars and the enjoyment of our Camp Collins setting.

Hello, I pray the day is finding you well.
The Clark Y members have been giving me a hard time.
I entered a weight loss challenge (which gives you an indication that maybe I need to lose weight).
I will talk about the weight loss challenge later.

This is a true story that takes place over more than just a day.
Last fall, at the Clark YMCA, we held our first ALPHA class. ALPHA is an 8-week class where people come and have the opportunity to ask any question about God, Christ, Christianity; no question is off the table and the environment is such that everyone feels safe.

This past weekend I was reflecting on my experience the day after the November 6 election. Though government leadership has again been determined, it appears that many Americans still feel anxious about the economy, a polarized congress and our unsettled relationship with other world governments. People from within our society and our Y association are looking for a sure foundation upon which to build their hope.

We had the first annual Clark County Family YMCA chaplain’s dinner Saturday night.
It was a wonderful event.
We had Rhapsody Church’s praise band leading us in worship.
We had great food.
We had awesome testimonials.
Brandon Berg was the emcee.
I had the opportunity to talk about the history of chaplaincy in the YMCA, of what we are presently doing, and where we would like to go in the future.
