On January 11, our Beaverton Hoop YMCA branch will be launching its Healthy Living class—a new way to look at life-long health. The Healthy Living difference is in approaching exercise, goal setting and gradual behavior changes in a supportive group environment. Through group discussion and exercise, participants help to motivate each other and stay on track.
In this 8-week course, participants will meet twice a week, once for a group discussion and once for group exercise. Group members will have the opportunity to meet experts in the health and wellness field and will receive helpful resource materials. Additionally, participants will be able to have full access to the Beaverton Hoop YMCA during the course of the program.
The focus on the group dynamic is key. Participants will keep a journal of their progress and will be encouraged to share success, obstacles, tricks and any other helpful tips they have learned during the program. Those that may have found it hard to stick to a healthy routine in the past, will hopefully find the tools they need to change that through working together.
Working together to make life-long changes is what Healthy Living is all about. Here at the Y, we believe that together, we can help each other lead healthier, happier lives. Community, yeah, we're all about that here.
