Why the Y
Why the Y?

"I support an organization that helps people, young and not. Although I do not identify as a Christian, I think Christ’s teachings are a good thing and aspire to help my fellow humans with love and without prejudice."
—Rachel Starr, Association Services Office

"I teach water exercise classes 5 days a week. One of my favorite things is all of the wonderful stories I hear. I heard one woman so happy that she was able to get on the floor and play with her grandchildren. Another was able to get in and out of the car without her knees hurting. One woman went to a 50th high school reunion and was told by everyone how good she looks. But the water isn’t just for those in pain. Several have lost weight. Some as high as 100+ pounds. I’m also a scout leader and have loved bringing them in, seeing them learn to swim and earn their swimming merit badge. Some older scouts came one Thursday for the Scottish Country dancing. There is something here for all ages and interests, and a wonderful place to be."
—Julie Parkes, Clark County Family YMCA
